Printed documents can be found in three libraries located at the Sengen, Namiki and Sakura campuses. Some books and journals hosted by external web sites can also be accessed via NIMS computers. User support is provided via e-mail or telephone, by librarians located at the Sengen campus.

Library materials

NIMS Library holds books in the fields of materials science, physics, chemistry, biology and engineering, as well as databases and datasheets. In addition to books and journal archives, some e-books, online journals and databases are available through the Internet.

How to use the library within NIMS

NIMS staff can enter the library any time using the personal keycard. Reference service is available: 9:00 - 12:00, 13:30 - 17:00 Monday-Friday.

Copying of the library materials is only allowed for personal use. Multiple copying, or copying entire books or journals is prohibited. Inter-library loan is available on the web page under “ILL request”.

How to use Library from outside NIMS

Open hours: 9:00 - 12:00, 13:30 - 17:00 Monday-Friday.

Closed: Weekends, National holidays and NIMS vacation seasons.

Non-NIMS staff can only use Sengen and Namiki libraries.

Procedures for using libraries:

1. Please send your name, affiliation, contact address and visit schedule to the library staff BEFORE the visit.
2. We cannot provide photocopies on the day of the visit; they can be mailed to you later, after confirming the transfer of copying fees.
3. Please carry your ID card during the visit.
